BIG Tree Planting – 10th St.
On June 25th, 2016 10th St. will be transformed into a tree-lined lane with 96 trees from Cherry to Temple. The trees will commemorate women who have broken boundaries and barriers, and 96 recognizes the 96 years since the 19th Amendment when women finally received the right to vote in the United States. Please see commemorative stamp of Frances Willard (below) who the 10th St. Elementary School is named after, and one of the original suffragettes. We will have some key woman on hand to kick-off the tagging of trees with women’s names. Please send in your recommendation to info@rpna.org. We hope to have hundreds of names on the trees. This tree planting is funded by the Port of LB & hosted by the LB Neighborhood Services.
