ArtWorksLBC in the Community & Details on the Upcoming Neighborhood Book Club
Mann Elementary Winterfest 2022
Mann Elementary Winterfest 2022: Over 200 families attended the annual Winterfest event at Horace Mann Elementary School on 3rd and Obispo on Thursday, December 15th. 10 tons of snow was brought in for sledding! Kids and families designed ornaments to decorate the senior holiday gift bags with Artist Dawn Mendelson of Rose Park Neighborhood’s ArtWorksLBC program. Staff from Long Beach Parks and Recreation offered face painting, delicious food was provided by Mama Juanitas Catering, pictures were taken by Phab Photobooth, cotton candy, popcorn, hot cocoa and cookies were served up by parent volunteers! Thank you to all who attended and we look forward to more fantastic events with our families and neighbors at Mann Elementary in 2023!
Rose Park Neighborhood Book Club
Rose Park Neighborhood Book Club: The kick-off to our first neighborhood book club meeting in September featuring the book: “The Connected Community” was so great that we are continuing the reading fun with our neighbors!
“Escape to Butterfly Ave,” written by Author Max Evans, is a coming-of-age drama/comedy that highlights a skateboarding father striving to maintain a bond with his teething daughter during the Covid era.
Longtime resident of Long Beach, Author Max Evans will hold a conversation about his novel with attendees at Page Against the Machine on Friday, January 20th at 7PM.
If you are interested in participating in the next book club discussion, email info@rpna.org to participate. Participants can shop local and purchase the book “Escape to Butterfly Ave” at Page Against the Machine at 2714 E. 4th Street, Long Beach. The book is also available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
*** The Rose Park Neighborhood Book Club is a resident-led initiative consisting of an informal discussion about books and topics of interest. Follow us on Instagram to stay informed!
