SAFE STREETS AWARENESS IN ROSE PARK NEIGHBORHOOD 8/19

Rose Park Neighborhood Association and the Long Beach Health Department’s Walk and Roll and GreenLightLB programs will be out at 4th and Cherry Avenue on Monday, August 19th from 3pm to 5pm for the 5th Annual LB Safe Streets Awareness Week (August 19th-24th)! We hope you will stop by to support pedestrian and bicycle safety and learn more about the dangers of distracted driving.

What is Safe Streets Awareness Week?

A week dedicated to ensuring the safety of the Long Beach community by bringing education and awareness to bicycle and pedestrian safety, while actively working to reduce and eliminate distracted and drug impaired driving.  For its fifth year, the Health Department is inviting valued community partners to bring Safe Streets education to neighborhoods and we invite residents to join us in making LB streets safer for everyone!

Why Should I participate?

Over the last 5 years, the City of Long Beach has seen a 41% increase in pedestrian and bicyclist involved crashes, an increase in drug-impaired driving crashes, and now distracted driving is now the #1 cause of roadway crashes in California. This growing public health crisis can only be addressed through a collective effort from all road users and community partners.
